I'm Laura Hayes. Storyteller, seeker, rural woman, singer, writer, and probably the person at the kitchen table who asks too many questions.

I've been collecting stories my whole life. As a journalist I had a microphone and a deadline. Now, I have something I didn't recognize back then — the deep and unshakeable belief that the stories of ordinary lives are the most important ones we can tell.  Especially now.

I live in rural Saskatchewan. I'm a mom of three kids who are out in the world doing hard and beautiful things. I'm navigating midlife with a lot of passion, but not a lot of patience for waiting until everything is perfect to start.

Storyground is the fulfillment of a dream I quietly let simmer on the back burner for too long. I found a journal entry recently — written eight years ago — where I asked myself: "what if I let my dream take its fullest form?"

I'm finally answering that question.
